The Merchant
The Merchant
Trade was important in every city. In Lucerne, trade flourished due to the city's favorable location and proximity to the Gotthard Pass and thus to the south. Goods traded from north to south or vice versa had to pass through Lucerne. There were tolls and fees, and traders and pilgrims would rest in Lucerne and treat themselves to a glass of wine and a meal in the many old inns, which unfortunately no longer exist today.
One of these traders is the merchant of the bailiwick. He is the one who procured or traded the characters' many utensils. The merchant is well-versed in the market and the city's commercial centers. He can also tell you a lot about old coins; if you're lucky, he might even have old change with him.
But what was traded? Where were the goods stored and inspected? What were the blockbusters from Lucerne?
And even more importantly... Where could you really fill your lamp? The shopkeeper will happily tell you this and more, but don't let him talk you into buying any goods; he really does talk a lot and he likes to talk... especially a lot!
"Speech is silver, silence is gold" – our shopkeeper doesn't know this saying; instead, it's "Speech is silver AND gold."
Cheers!

The Sociable One in an Interview
What do you offer?
Stuff, good old stuff that I've found or traded on my travels. Want to read an exciting book? If you can't read, these shoes might be something; they were worn by a good town miller! Or how about this relic? Rumor has it it's Niklaus von der Flüeh's toenail.
Which is your favorite tour?
All of them! Every tour offers its own adventure and content. Variety is what makes life special. It's always good to network with people, especially when you're trading!
Which pub do you like to drink in the most?
The question should be, "Which pub do you never drink in?" Then my answer would be shorter. Come on a tour, and I'll show you where the grocer gets his cider!
Wine or beer?
Wine!
Beer is a barbaric swill! It will NEVER catch on! *laughs
What was the most special item you've ever traded?
You won't believe me, but I once owned the chainmail of Duke Leopold III of Habsburg. I bought it from a fence. But it was confiscated from me and now sits in the old armory—no joke!
