The Mercenary
The Mercenary
The mercenary has survived many wars, battles, and skirmishes. He has traveled widely and roamed places in Italy, France, and Germany, always in search of loot, pay, and adventure.
But after his last defeat, he no longer saw a future in fighting as a mercenary and wanted only one thing: to protect his loved ones in his hometown of Lucerne.
The mercenary returned to the city and devoted himself to guarding it, passing on his battle experiences.
He knows the city's old fortifications well and knows where they once stood and what they looked like. Although he's tired of fighting, he always enjoys telling people how the battles went and what weapons or strategies the Swiss mercenaries used.
Unfortunately, the mercenary is addicted to wine and sometimes seems a bit tipsy or emotional when talking about old stories. Nevertheless, there is no braver and more enduring comrade than him!

The Brave in an interview
What was your role in the mercenary service?
I was a crossbowman. I also had the vanguard under my command.
What is your favorite tour?
Honestly, I haven't been on any other tour; I don't have time for that. But nothing beats legends and sagas!
Hand on heart, how much did you earn?
It was barely enough for my equipment. Yes, we all had to pay for it ourselves! But I managed to scrape together a small sum, which is enough for food, a place to stay, and my quarrelsome wife at home! (And I thought the fighting was over *laughs)
What is your favorite weapon and why?
The crossbow is certainly practical. However... I'm a fan of spears! Old but still effective. But nothing beats my Lucerne Hammer, which I stole from a French mercenary. A multifunctional weapon at its finest!
Tell us your favorite tower and why?
Aesthetically, I really liked the Jewish Tower near the Spreuer Bridge. But the Haber Tower near the Basler Tower will always be my favorite. Striking, impressive, menacing, and the gateway to my hometown! I hope it never gets torn down... or does it?!
